BBB Hosts ShredFest on April 30

shredfest-image-smBring in your paper documents! This Saturday, April 30, the Better Business Bureau Serving Wisconsin (BBB) will host another FREE ShredFest event to help combat identity theft

The BBB reports that identity theft was the second-most common consumer complaint the FTC received last year. Last year, Wisconsin was ranked #13 throughout the nation in identity theft complaints with 7,756 complaints filed, compared to 2014 when it ranked #26 with 4,283 complaints.

In Wisconsin, government documents/benefits fraud was the most common form of reported identity theft at 63 percent, followed by credit card fraud (12 percent), phone or utilities fraud (5 percent), bank fraud (4 percent), loan fraud (3 percent), employment-related fraud (2 percent), “other” (15 percent), and attempted identity theft (3 percent).

There is a limit of three bags per car. All paper shred will be recycled.

ShredFest will be held in four locations across the state from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
